When you walk outside your door and agree to show up to life that day doing the best you can, well thats yoga. Accepting the things you can’t change, finding courage to change the things you can, and having the wisdom to know the difference, thats yoga. Empowering your body to find the strength to hike up a mountain that you didn’t know you could hike, thats yoga. Doing the physical asana practice at the top of the mountain, well thats just the bonus 😉 Happy International Yoga Day!!!! We’ll have a vendor table at Copley square as part of the Yoga Day Boston event organized by @yogahubboston & @yogaforhumanity ! If you’re coming to the event stop on by to meet our founder @llogayoga to learn more about what we do :) After enjoy a totally free yoga class from 6:30-7:30 with hundreds of other yoga lovers lead by one of the most bad ass yoga boss babes I know @alisingeryoga !! #backcountryYoga #internationalyogaday #mountainyoga

Don’t let other people write your story. Don’t let the haters win. The more you be yourself, the more you shine your light, the more successful you become... there will always be forces that try and tear you down. Know your worth. Love yourself enough to let that shit go. It’s not easy. Not at all. I have to remind myself of this whenever I get caught up in the drama of working for myself and building Backcountry Yoga. It can take every ounce of strength I have to not give in to the fight. Know yourself, trust your mission and continue to move full force ahead. We don’t need others to believe in us if we can just believe in ourselves. The love and support you get from your community is really just the bonus 💕 So get fierce on this Thursday. Stay strong. Move along. Know We’re all going through the same thing #backcountryyoga #staystrong #yougotthis #entrepreneur #workhard #worksmart #knowyourworth
One of my favorite pieces of running Backcountry Yoga retreats are the friendships that emerge. I can’t tell you how amazing it is to receive emails, texts, and messages, letting me know that a group of you are heading out on your very own, self lead adventure! Our retreats are here to empower you to get outside! We love when you join us, but we also love when you spread your wings and fly :) Shout to all the people in our community who have made lasting friendships and continue to take their practice outside!!! 💕💕💕#backcountry #backcountryyoga

No matter where you go, if you can feel at home in your own heart... you will never be alone. I know that sounds corny as hell... but it wasn’t until I found myself alone in the woods that I started to realize how scared I was of silence. Intrigued by my fears I started to explore my shadow side with the support of nature’s unconditional love. The forest gave me permission to have compassion for the parts of my life I always tried to sweep aside. It was in the silence of my own mind, amongst the trees, that I finally found the strength to look my past traumas in the face... and tell them they could no longer drive. This is how I got my life back. This is how the earth taught me to thrive. This is how mountains heal. Some days I’m still afraid of silence, but I’m no longer afraid to be alone. I found a home inside my heart, and in that way I know I’ll always be alright. The most important work we can ever do is healing ourselves because the world needs your light! #backcountryyoga photography by @iamnashnyc !! (::afterthought :: once I posted this I listened to some of my favorite moon astrologers talk about today’s moon in cancer, and it was so on point with how I’ve been feeling! If you’re interested in following any type of moon astrology I highly recommend it)

There are many paths that make us, decisions that break us, and signs we should have trusted. But in the end everything happens as it should, even when we don’t like the outcome, sometimes. I’ve grown quite good reframing situations that aren’t good for me. And while it’s always easier said than done, I encourage you to also learn the art of finding lessons in the bullshit. I’ll admit it can take time. Sometimes you won’t even find the lesson until a couple months later, or maybe even years later. But if you open yourself to the possibility that there is always something to be learned, the hardships ( shit storms💩) that life throws at you can be a little easier to get through. Bring it onnnnnn 🌂🌪☔️ photography by @iamnashnyc #backcountryyoga
The next time you’re in the woods...or in a field... or anywhere you see life growing, I challenge you to take a closer look. Find awe in the intricacies of flower peddles, the sprouting of little bean pods deep inside moss, the flight paths of bees, and the vast array of bird languages lighting up the sky. Notice these things and you will always find joy. #backcountryyoga
When we venture into the wilderness our brains are finally able to relax and go into a state of soft fascination. It’s during that state that we give ourselves more time to be creative and light hearted. If laughter is medicine.. then laughing on top of a mountain is the ultimate dose :) I hope you’re all enjoying your Friday! So many incredible thing are being built in the background of Backcountry Yoga, and I can’t wait to share them with you. We still have some space in tonights Yoga& Spring Herbs workshop at Drumlin Farm with @plantsandprovisions!! Message me if you want more info! As always, yoga will be all levels and focus on the phase of the Moon 🌝 🌚 #backcountryyoga @chriskolasa
“Knowing that you love the earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond.” ― Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants —————————- Are you burnt out?Are you confused on where you want to go?Are you so caught up in busyness that you rarely take a moment to look up and see the world? Do you want to change your life?If so... I dare you to fall in love with nature. You will never be the same. #backcountryyoga #braidingsweetgrass #robinkimmerer #savetheworld #nature #naturelovers
Happy Earth Day!! 💕 Treat her well 🙌🏻 #backcountryyoga #earth #earthday
Yesterday I had the incredible pleasure of meeting one of my favorite authors and all time role models, Florence Williams @florence999. Florence is the author of “The Nature Fix”. In this book Florence travels the world to report on how our brains act “on nature”. From Japan & South Korea where they are building forest bathing programs for mental health... to Scotland and Finland where evidence is growing that implementing wilderness Therapy for adults and forest schools for children, assists in empowering women to move beyond the gender gaps. Young girls who play outside are proven to have better body positivity and have higher level careers in their future. ( oh sooo you’re saying getting girls in naure can help with the wage gaps??? YES) Did you know in Singapore every business that takes away green space is required to put it back in some form?? I could go on and on about all these incredible programs, but ultimately I want you all to know how dedicated #BackcountryYoga is to continuing our programs. In 2018 and beyond we will be shifting our focus more towards earth education and how we can continue to covert once full out city dwellers into regular forest visitors, as the importance of this transcends the day to day “feel good” messages around why we should get outside. Nature is the missing piece in our evolution... our whole species is starting to migrate inside. We have to understand what that means for us, and how we can help shift our mentality to start bringing our culture back to nature.
